Our workflow:
For those interested in how we publish, the idea is to produce easily. As most sections publish instant moments (objects found, places passed by,…) an available note taking system was important. The reporter does not however write his thoughts on the notebook, but a mobile computer system is used. This might be in contrast to our thoughts published and the general idea behind our site, but we believe this is an acceptable compromise.
For historical completeness, the notebooks should always accompany the reporter, as well as the doctor, farmer, architect, student, salesman, naturalist etc.
The system consists in an iPhone, mostly replacing also the DSLR camera with the benefit of GPS metadata being stored. Thoughts are jotted down in Drafts by Agile Tortoise and are then processed in Editorial by OMZ Software. The later allows us to use specific workflows for ftp upload, text processing and some meta date generation. The central point for all image centric posts are the photograph.
For the newer sound section, we use a Rode iXY as it fits nicely in every pocket.
